Civics: the study of the rights and duties of citizens.

Derived from the Latin word “civics”, meaning relating to the citizen”.

Civics is our agreed upon ideology as a nation.

The reflection and manifestation of that agreed upon ideology is the Constitution.
It is the physical document that carefully details the ideology of the citizens of the United States.

Was it perfect upon its creation? No. There have been many amendments to try and make sure that it deals with US citizens equally.

Does it cover every possible situation?
Not directly, no, which is why we have a court of law that tries to take each case into account and uphold the ideologies of innocent until proven guilty and protect individual liberty.
If you believe that being an “Originalist” is a bad thing, then you are saying that you do not agree with the Constitution and thus do not agree with ideology of the United States.

Make sure you read the Constitution first, so you know with what you are saying you don’t agree.
Civics isn’t just politics.

Politics are the different views on how the nation should enact policies.

Politics is the focus on the few things we disagree over. Civics is the focus on the many things we should all agree on.
We can disagree on how to reach our goals as a nation, but in order to remain a peaceful nation we cannot have completely different goals.

The goal set forth by the Constitution is the protection of individual liberty for all.

If that is not your goal, that’s big issue.
