Update on Peoples Action on Section 30

Well! It's been a very busy month but I'm pleased to advise that the amendment process that was being conducted to re-write all of the different arguments to remove the Scottish Government was complete yesterday (even though it seems
that the Scottish Government haven't actually withdrawn due to the continuing involvement of the Scottish Government legal directorate with the Lord Advocate - it seems to be a cosmetic withdrawal only to allow the Lord Advocate to do a hatchet job with plausible deniability).
The amendments are, for lack of a better word, extensive! They've made amendments and we've responded. They've made amendments and we've done the same. And so for the last month that's basically been what we've been doing, going back and forward.
Yesterday was the last day for that, now the re-opened record will finally be closed in the next week or so and should finally become public.
The next hearing on the case will be the 4th of November and this will be the hearing that should have taken place last month known as the "by order roll" hearing. This sets the framework for the procedure moving forward with regards to the hearings etc.
We've been advised that the proceedings on the 4th will likely be done via Webex (Video Conferencing) rather than a telephone conference.
If you wish to listen in on proceedings, you are advised to email the court of session at [email protected] or telephone them at 0131 225 2595 and ask for webex access to proceedings on the 4th of November -
If asked the case is Martin Keatings vs Advocate General and Others A74/20.

All the best

Martin
