there is a whole genre of white woman OBSESSED with the existence of any WOC they can think of as high-achieving. they spend their days like our truest fans, reading everything we’ve written, stalking our every friend & family, trying to piece together just how we exist.

i get it—in a racist & misogynistic society like ours there should be zero chance of success for WOC. but it amazes me that they are not deterred by what their sweaty, creepy envy & obsession looks like.

these women have done more to try to get in my way than anyone. they never win, never even close. at this point i am so used to them i almost accept them. the way they degrade themselves next to me only lets me shine more & more magnificently all the time.

but i see them try this with other WOC & my god i am so tired! i wish their few desperate poc friends would retire from being their token. there’s a whole other world out there, honey, when you stop worshipping white people.

my mom dealt with this every damn day in American workplaces. She made less money but dressed better, looked better, thought better, & it drove them nuts. My mom has a way of smiling through anything & so glad I learned from her to shrug off this shit & let it make me better.
