RSS, TARGET NORTH EAST
Today we'll start our journey through that part of the country, which we club together as the North East. A region which often is termed as the great unknown. While clubbing the region as NE might be accurate geographically, it's a lazy classification,
+
when it comes to the cultures & ethnicities of the region. In fact the NE is as myriad & diverse as they get. The culture & people change every 100 kms or so. For eg, Nagaland alone has 16 tribes, each with distinct languages, mutually unintelligible. Just the major ones.
+
It's also a region that's mostly cut off from what we call "Mainland India". Also a region that suffered due to illegal migration. And also a region where @RSSorg finds all it's enemies, Bangladeshis, Muslims & Christians, traditional bogeymen for the saffron brigade.
+
RSS took off in the region in 1946. After its ban following Gandhi Ji's assassination, it went underground. By the time the ban was lifted, they'd spread further in the region, mostly through surrogate organisations.
The region, RSS took advantage of 2 things.
+
1. An inherent fear among the tribes of losing their heritage & culture in the face of mass conversion to Christianity;
2. Fierce & often bloody hostilities among the various tribes.
Today, we'll look at one such incident in Mizoram that gave the RSS a toehold in the region.
+
became part of "Sanatan Dharma".
So, in the garb of protecting the Brus from Christians, RSS converted them to Christianity. This pattern would be repeated in Tripura, Arunachal & other states of the region.
Subverting local traditions, cultures & beliefs, and bringing everyone
+
under the fold of Hindi, Hindu & Hindutva, that's been RSS's gameplan in the region as well.
In the next few days, we'll take a look at such instances as well as how they have tried to use the "locals vs outsiders" syndrome to their advantage at the cost of peace & harmony.
