Wow. Jorge Jesus not mincing his words in relation to Bernardo Silva. I'll give some background and try to explain this. https://twitter.com/maisfutebol/status/1321039390504865794
To start at the end, what is JJ saying above (last night's post-match press conference). To paraphrase:

"People can have defects but there is nothing worse than being ungrateful - Bernardo is ungrateful to Benfica's president."
"He's been sniping at me over the years because of the left-back situatiton. Let me set the record straight." [Bernardo has said several times he left Benfica because Jorge Jesus wanted to play him at LB, so he realised he wasn't wanted].
"What happened was Bernardo came to me and asked if I'd get in the team. I said for who? For Nico Gaitán? For Sálvio? He said he needed to know because he had an offer to earn 20 times more at Monaco and he wanted to help his family. I said go speak to the president."
"That's what happened. This story of Bernardo leaving because I wanted to play him at left-back is rubbish. It's not what happened at all. Everton Cebolinha, who's just arrived, sometimes trains at left-back to learn how to defend better."
Why this outburst from Jorge Jesus? First, it has obviously bugged him to constantly hear accusations of him not making use of Bernardo (and possibly wanting to play him at left-back).
Second, Bernardo yesterday came out and publicly called for people to vote out Luís Filipe Vieira, the current president, in tomorrow's presidential election, strongly arguing the club needs a change in direction https://twitter.com/BernardoCSilva/status/1320738634149089282
Jorge Jesus and Luís Filipe Vieira have a very strong relationship right now - despite falling out when JJ left for Sporting. LFV insisted on keeping JJ as Benfica coach when everyone else wanted him out in his first spell at the club. JJ went on to have tremendous success.
With LFV having "saved his neck" back in 2013, allowing JJ to go on to build a reputation as one of Portugal's best coaches, JJ was re-hired pretty much to return the favour and "save LFV's neck" amidst growing opposition to the president following a disastrous season last year.
So there you have it. It's ironic that Bernardo Silva, one of today's very best Portuguese players, and Jorge Jesus, one of today's very best Portuguese coaches, are at loggerheads when they both share a common passion: to see Benfica dominate in Portugal and do well in Europe.
I think that's a fair assessment of the situation from both angles. If you disagree @BernardoCSilva please feel free to set the record straight 😉. Unfortunately Jorge Jesus is not on twitter (that would be gold!) so I can't tag him in.
