First #CycleCommute to @SalfordUni in months. Wow. It's the wild west. Sadly. Awful. A few things on my journey...
Chaos at Cornbrook junction with #A56 from construction site which has butchered the cycle way and created conflict with pedestrians #accessibility. One for you @TraffordCouncil.
Wodens bridge is closed. Again. Pedestrian diversion. No cycle diversion. Nothing is clearly marked. Forced onto #A57 ring road. "Cycle way" is shared with pedestrians and complete shambles. Ped & cycle split actually flips half way and then disappears... @SalfordCouncil 🤦‍♂️
Regent road, newly 'upgraded' by @SalfordCouncil I think, has no cycle infrastructure. Forced to cross two lanes of traffic to turn right.
Two cars parked on double yellows along ordsall lane. Have to move out into traffic around them. They don't think they've done anything wrong.
Emerge onto the crescent. Oh god. It's worse than I remember. HGVs steam past. And no advanced stop boxes at all.
Arrived at @SalfordUni, turning right into campus isn't possible so have to get on pavement. One way system around entry to campus (not Covid related) is designed for vehicles so cycles just have to chance their way around.
@SalfordCouncil carpark out front of @SalfordMuseum is some sort of archaeology dig the potholes are so bad. Nearly lost front wheel in one.
Navigate building at work... Covid had made this the most pleasant part. No one is there and the plants in my office are still alive #Brightside. 🌿🌿🌿 Also, lovely @workerbeeMCR from @gk_gallery - visit them!!
Return journey. Decide I'm not repeating the outward. Too awful. Decide to try new segregated section of Chapel Street. Still chaos. But the short section with orcas 🐳 is nice. Sad they haven't done all the way to Victoria bridge.
Snake back down Deansgate. @ManCityCouncil's attempt. After all these months it's still there. That's about the best thing I can say. It's still too cluttered and has barriers. It's spits you back onto normal traffic. Also disappointing they didn't do more...
Slightly chaotic navigating junc by Deansgate tram stop and top of #A56 but eventually make my way into segregated section. It's narrow but at least it exists. It also connects to @ManCityCouncil new chorlton cycleway. Automatically lights!! 🚦🚦wahoo!! Thanks.
Abandoned briefly by @ManCityCouncil to turn right at Stretford road. But back onto segregated cycleway. Phew. Terrible leaves (every year the leaves will fall 🤦‍♂️) so @ManCityCouncil and @TraffordCouncil / @OneTrafford need to sort that out.
Home. 🥳😬😔 Survived but God that was stressful. A lot of work to do @Chris_Boardman with the #BeeNetwork.
