The statement of Ms Lipi Singh seems far from truth. Here's another video from a different angle which shows that additional forces were rushed in to attack the Durga devotees even as they were being lathi charged.
Here you also hear two shots being fired.
This is the video from the beginning. See how the devotees are cowing down and not moving from the place even as police rain lathis on them. They seem to be protecting the deity. You hear bells jangle.
Later, one of them will be shot in the head.
This is a thread about the history of the Durga Mata puja from Nishant. https://twitter.com/nishannt257/status/1321011722413457408?s=20
Local residents squarely blame this incident on the superintendent of police, Munger, Ms. Lipi Singh.
Hear them speak how the police started firing without warnings. Then the police didn't even help to carry the injured to the hospital.

A video shot just before the horrible tragedy shows people rejoicing and celebrating. Little did they know that the superintendent of police had asked her men to get ready with lathi and guns. https://twitter.com/AdityaS93871246/status/1321010346522374145?s=20
The video when bullets were fired.
Sure, they were breaking Covid protocols.
They violated prohibitory orders.
But you will punish them by putting a bullet in the head?
I cannot put the video of the dead.
You will get it in Nishant's thread posted earlier. https://twitter.com/Pranav04dz/status/1321047878475735040?s=20
A man with a bullet in his leg is bleeding by the roadside and the police is acting as if they cannot see them.
He says that the police shot him and he is begging to be taken to a hospital.
The police team is seen standing nearby and watching the fun.
With so much evidence stacked up against her, I demand the termination of service of Munger SP, Ms. Lipi Singh. After termination, please initiate criminal proceedings for killing innocent Hindu devotees.
Dear sir, Bihar hasn't voted yet.
Please do the needful.
