Just yesterday we saw the least-vetted justice in American history get rushed to the Supreme Court on a party line vote days before an election, after the President who nominated her said he was doing so to help decide who wins that vote. And at the Supreme Court ...
... we saw the existing majority strike down an attempt in Wisconsin to make it easier to vote during a plague, with significant concurrences from this president's other appointees showing they'd go further ...
... and even voicing support for Trump's totally illegitimate "need to know by midnight" principle as if ballots turn into pumpkins afterwards. It could not be clearer that they are ready to use the courts to take the choice of the next president away from us if they can. BUT!
BUT! There's still time to stop them. Their plans depend on it being at least a little close. A blowout would make this planned heist of our democracy so obviously illegitimate even Trump's hand picked justices wouldn't go along.
So that's what we have to do, by giving this election every last ounce of our energy, of our soul. I know you're tired. I am too. But we have one way to save our democracy, and one week to do it. We can't let up now, because the only way out is through.
Every vote counts this year, not just the ones that put Biden and Harris (and Senate candidates, and House candidates, and state legislative candidates) over the finish line.
Because we need every vote to have that resounding shout of "NO!" to this president. "NO!" to this court. "NO!" to the gerrymanderers. "NO!" to anyone who would think to try to take our vote away from us.
Raise EVERY voice in opposition, and let there be no doubt the will of the public this year. For more than ever, we need that great chorus of Democracy denounce those who would take our power from us.
WE THE PEOPLE must remain sovereign, and that means, more than ever, WE THE PEOPLE must vote. So ask yourself what you're doing today, and tomorrow, and the next day? We have one week, folks. Just one more week to give our country our all. Now get out there and get out the vote.
