This from @timdunlop gets right to the heart of why the us/them divide between journalists and the mouthy unwashed is so tiresome, self-perpetuating, escalatory and destructive.
The whole piece is excellent and I would recommend all journalists and Twitter dot com users read and reflect. https://meanjin.com.au/blog/journalism-serves-democracy-thats-us/">https://meanjin.com.au/blog/jour...
Final excerpt as it should all be read, but for the time poor: journalists need to understand the reason people feel like they are being gaslit is because they are being gaslit.
I& #39;ve been drafting something up along these lines as I can entirely understand each side& #39;s frustrations. Some of the kneejerk brick-batting goes too far and there is a real risk proper scrutiny suffers, but any failure to recognise critique is mostly a & #39;reaction& #39; is farcical.
Raises one of many reasons it& #39;s ridiculous to swipe at a homogenous twitter blob acting in one particular way - certain News columnists (let& #39;s go with Jita, Moe and Jiranda) have honed unleashing flying monkey posses to quash dissent into an artform. https://twitter.com/Busabx/status/1321038956192935936">https://twitter.com/Busabx/st...
