Harry was glad that they decided to hold wedding in Spring. It was not too cold nor was it too hot. Flowers were all in full bloom and everyone was feeling good at the concept of a fresh start brought upon by a brand new year.
They decided to have a small garden wedding in one of the smaller Malfoy properties.

It was to be a private affair exclusive only to their family and friends. Thus, wards were put up to ensure privacy and security.

It was the biggest affair in the entire wizarding world but
both of the grooms are determined to not let a single photo from the event reach any press or publication.

The morning of the wedding is clear and bright. Not a single cloud was in sight and it was proving to be a perfect day so far.
Harry was currently in one of the chateau's many rooms. Both Hermione and Pansy insisted that both grooms be kept away from each other for a full day before the wedding. Harry didn't mind. A day without Draco doesn't compare to the years that they will spend together after today.
The dark haired man stood in front of the mirror as he buttoned up his cufflinks. He inspected himself and was quite satisfied with how he looked. His hair is still a wild mess but it was significantly tamer than other days. Draco would no doubt make an amused comment about that.
With his wedding robes on and his nerves in check, Harry was all prepared to be wed to the love of his life who was also the bane of his existence for so long.

Funny how life just does a complete 180 at times.

Now, all Harry has to do is wait for Hermione to fetch him.
Harry sat there waiting for quite a long time. The nerves were returning and he was becoming restless with every minute that passed. He decided that he has done enough sitting so he went over to the huge glass window that looked over the garden where the wedding will be held.
What Harry saw brought both shock and confusion into his system.

Instead of a decorated garden that he expected to see, his eyes were met with grass. A whole field of it that stretched out for acres.

Was he put in a different room? On a different side of the chateau?
That's impossible because he remembered looking out the window first thing in the morning before he even brushed his teeth. He remembered his heart skipping a couple of beats in his chest at the sight of their wedding venue and at the thought of the event that will take place.
So, being met with nothing but grass is quite strange.

It was only then that he realized the ringing silence in his ear. He expected to hear people hustling and bustling as both Hermione and Pansy ordered everyone around for last minute preparations.
And so with furrowed brows, Harry made his way to the door.

"Hello?" He called out into the seemingly empty corridor. He was met with silence. Complete silence. Not even the faraway sounds of children running away from their parents who wanted to get them into formal clothes.
Harry fully stepped into the corridor and closed the door behind him.

"Hermione?" He called out again. He unconsciously reached into his back pocket to get his wand when he remembered that he left his wand on the nightstand.
Harry turned around to retrieve his wand but he was met with a blank wall.

The door that was just there a few moments ago had disappeared into nothingness.

"What?" He muttered, placing his palm on the wall where the door was.
He even knocked on it several times but to no avail.

Harry figured that nothing would happen so, with a pounding heart, he made his way through the corridors and out into the garden.

On the way there, he came across no one. The halls were completely silent and bare of life.
He felt even more confused when he reached the garden.

What he thought to be grasslands just a few moments ago have reverted back into the decorated wedding venue that he expected to see.

Rows of chairs were lined up on either side of the aisle, their brass frames catching the
sun's rays and made it seem like they're glowing.

At the end of the long grey carpet was a wedding arch decorated with white roses and peonies.

Harry didn't see it at first, what with the sun rays distracting him but there's a person standing just below the arch.
"Draco?" Harry said, walking forward – almost jogging –with squinted eyes. "Where's everyone?"

Draco said nothing when Harry reached him. The blond merely looked at him with a fond expression that Harry was quite familiar with... except for his eyes.
His eyes were filled with a certain kind of sadness that Harry has never seen before.

"Are you okay?" He asked.

Draco looked over him and reached out his hand to cup his cheek.

"I missed you..." The blond whispered making Harry smile softly.

"I missed you too."

"You have to let go of me."

"Wh..what?" Harry asked, his brows furrowing once again as he looked at his future husband with confusion evident on his face.

"You have to let go, Harry," Draco said again. "You deserve to be happy."
"But I AM happy!" Harry argued. "I'm happy with you!"

Draco just smiled sadly at him before leaning forward to press a soft kiss on the other man's forehead. Harry closed his eyes and savoured this sweet moment.

"I love you," he whispered. "We'll see each other again..."
And when Harry opened his eyes, he was alone.

"Draco?" He frantically called out as he looked around, searching and looking for the blond. "Draco!"

"Harry..." He heard a voice call his name but it wasn't Draco. "Harry? Harry! Harry wake up!"
Harry jolted awake to see Hermione's worried face looking down on him.

"Hermione? What are you doing here?" He asked as he was catching his breath.

"Oh, Harry..." was all she said before he found himself engulfed in a tight hug.
Harry also caught sight of Ron standing by the door with a worried expression. "Ron and I...well, we wanted to check up on you because...you know..."

"Because what?"

"We know that today's gonna be a hard day for you, mate." Ron said, speaking for the first time.
"It's the 29th, Harry..." Hermione said carefully as if she was walking on eggshells.

"Oh." was all that came out of Harry's mouth as everything rushed back into his mind.

Today was supposed to be his and Draco's wedding anniversary.
If only they had the chance to get married.

They never did.

Harry didn't even get the chance to see his groom in his wedding robes because on this day, a year ago, Draco Malfoy disappeared from his room in the Malfoy chateau.
Many hours later, just as the sun was about to set, he was found dead in the Malfoy Manor in Wiltshire.
