It was great to speak to @JuliaHB1 on @talkRADIO this morning. Here's a clip of the interview.

And a thread on what I was saying in that interview.
Is Test and Trace failing? Yes. Here's a thread I wrote a few weeks ago https://twitter.com/Dr_D_Robertson/status/1314162353466937349
Is the virus 'out of control'? Yes. https://twitter.com/Dr_D_Robertson/status/1319618555361562624
The whole idea of Test & Trace was that we could 'whack a mole' with local outbreaks. It has been over capacity since 23 August when demand for tests started to be 'throttled' https://twitter.com/Dr_D_Robertson/status/1305100187652837376
But what about now? Here's a screenshot from https://coronavirus-staging.data.gov.uk/

Week on week:
- positive tests +24%
- patients admitted +31%
- deaths +49%
And what's happening now? Here's the latest data. This represents around 3000 over-80s who caught Covid *last week*. Hundreds of those will die.

And it's not just over-80s dying (figure source @PHE_uk)

And it's not a battle of the economy vs health. This is a false dichotomy.

Get the virus under control, people will be more confident, and will go back to a nearly normal life.

Look at South Korea, look at New Zealand.
Muddling through does not work for pandemics. My letter in the @ft from March

Government policy should not be led by the media cycle or focus groups. That's not how pandemics work. It requires leadership, understanding, and a respect for the virus. https://twitter.com/Dr_D_Robertson/status/1307656947991302144
