Since NaNoWriMo season is upon us, a mini-thread of writing craft books I feel are worth your time:
(with the note that I never treat any writing advice as whole, rather: these books contain things it is useful to think about, presented in ways that facilitate the thinking)
Romancing the Beat may be the *only* comprehensive guide to what makes a (category) romance a romance, luckily it is also excellent. If you ever want to write so much as a romance subplot, highly recommended

The Ten Day Draft is not only super NaNo appropriate, it also does an incredibly good job of breaking a story down into chunks even if you have no intention of 5k days. The Ten Day Outline, in the same series, is also great reading and worth your time https://thenovelsmithy.com/ten-day-draft/ ">https://thenovelsmithy.com/ten-day-d...
I& #39;m not kidding when I say Chris Fox& #39;s 5000 Words Per Hour changed my life--not because I now write 5000 words per hour, but because it gave me permission to think about how to write efficiently. Plot Gardening is also cool, as is Chris& #39; YouTube channel https://www.chrisfoxwrites.com/write-faster-write-smarter/">https://www.chrisfoxwrites.com/write-fas...
Save The Cat is a classic for a reason. I& #39;m gonna rec the original screenwriting version because: I have read it (and also I think it helps to look outside your discipline here and there). Fair warning: will change the way you watch movies permanently https://savethecat.com/ ">https://savethecat.com/">...
(will update this thread if I think of others)
