This is hard to articulate but I love how what makes The Captain begin to let his defences down is seeing some openly gay joy. Naked men in the house? Uncomfortable. Reminders of his lost love? Painful. Gay wedding? FABULOUS. https://twitter.com/ldlapinski/status/1320833818450972682
I’ve read BW’s interview and it’s a cracker, we really are seeing a character who is not comfortable with their sexuality for many reasons - because for his whole life and death it’s been associated with bad or uncomfortable experiences and he’s never seen or been involved in...
anything to the contrary. Until two brides turn up & suddenly he is seeing gay joy & he plans a wonderful wedding, runs a tight ship and he DANCES! In front of the other ghosts! With two men!!!
And this is why I write queer chs - everyone deserves to see joy in their identity
