Please, never tell a depressed person that they are a burden, no matter the context, no matter how indirect.

Don& #39;t tell a depressed person to smile more. Don& #39;t tell them that smiling at the mirror in the morning will automatically make one happier.
Don& #39;t tell a depressed person that they are invalid and you don& #39;t take them seriously because people in other parts of the world are hungry and they are not depressed.
Of course, there is hunger and poverty, and it is terrible; but that doesn& #39;t make depression unimportant.

Don& #39;t tell a depressed person that it will be okay once they start to study or a new work. Don& #39;t tell them they just need a job and then they don& #39;t have time to be depressed.
Don& #39;t tell a depressed person that lying on bed all day doesn& #39;t help. That eating junk food doesn& #39;t help.
We know that. But we can& #39;t do anything else.

Don& #39;t tell a depressed person that taking medication is unnatural and doesn& #39;t help. Don& #39;t tell them that you think antidepressants are not necessary.
Believe me, if they were unnecessary, we wouldn& #39;t take them. They change us. Even our personality. Even after quitting.

Don& #39;t tell a depressed person that, while they& #39;re already home all day, they could clean or cook. There is a reason people are home all day. There is a reason people can& #39;t clean or feed themselves.
Please ask a depressed person what you can do for them. Sometimes it is just a hug or sitting next to them in silence.
Offer to go with them to a doctor or a psychiatrist. Offer to set up the appointment and to accompany them.
Offer to google/ research for possibilities.
