Hope. [A thread]. We get the doom and gloom. For 4 years, a handful of people were projecting the breakdown of the court system, the slow erosion of free and fair elections and even the probability of genocide. That is what happens when fascists get into power. 1/8
It& #39;s why we wanted to try to get everyone -- individuals, celebrities, politicians, media -- to demand Trump resign. We know direct pressure work, just watch the 60 Minutes interview. We thought resigning would be the best shot at a peaceful transition of power. 2/8
We also thought resigning would be the best way to prevent the courts from deciding the election. This was when RBG was still alive -- but even then we knew it was always a possibility the GOP would take the election by sheer force. 3/8
Tonight feels like a setback of catastrophic proportions. But it is simply one more way that the people in power are abusing their power. We, the people, have to stand up to abusers in power, and damn it& #39;s hard. It& #39;s why everyone is screaming #VOTE

Right now, a record turnout in this election is the best tool we have to fight with. If we can get as many abusers OUT of power as possible on Nov. 3rd, then we can get to work at fixing some of the damage. None of this will be easy. 5/8
But we have to try. We have to be able to look our friends, families, kids, grandkids, colleagues and loved ones in the eyes and be able to say "We did everything we could to fight fascism and save democracy. Even when it seemed impossible." 6/8
