a thread of my favorite lyrics of MOONCHILD — @nikizefanya
1. Wide Open (Foreword)
an atmospheric intro, cold and intimidating. the way she sings in quiet tone!! and this part is a commentary on some industry, women are objectified and forced sexualization. i’m sure we all can agree that line gives us chills right?
2. Switchblade
The Moonchild is feeling optimistic, brave, and have a sense of adventure in the new place.

I love how these lyrics describe she is very much excited and down to explore in the new environment also ready to face any obstacles!
Honestly, Switchblade really grows on me. This song was the absolute sign that the Moonchild era was coming, it sounds really different from her other previous project which makes us kinda shocked at the time.
3. Nightcrawlers
First of all, can we appreciate how she raps in this song, she killed it?! She really pushing past her comfort zone in this one.

This line really giving me chills and stuck in my head from the very first time! How she penned ‘ringin’ down the rosie’, wow.
anyways.... 😌 https://twitter.com/nikizefanya/status/1303874323573342208?s=19
4. Selene
My toptier track from Moonchild, even since it released. it sounds gliterry and the song is about sensuality in it’s message, really suits well with the visualizer.

The most notable and powerful part of the whole lyrics, cause fuck man!
I know I said this for many times before, but I say it again: Selene is the sister of Indigo, the softer version one. Also, the way she sings this part...... is *magical*

sorry for yall acoustic version sucker but Selene doesnt need acoustic version!
5. Tide
Since we finally entering the phase 2, it’s very contrast compared to Selene. it sounds very dark, and then the beat turns strong which giving me goosebumps. i can feel the lyrics has very strong emotions in this song and this part stuck in my head, remind me to keep +
aware moreover in the situation like this. i would say that i can relate to this part..... especially when she said distracted and compelled.
6. Pandemonium
This song sounds like ‘trying to accept the fate’, but more like... ‘pasrah’ (idk what the exact meaning in english). The music sounds calming and the lyrics have a deep meaning. Moreover Niki herself said it’s about mental health. It’s so obvious in this part, +
which also my favorite lyrics too. This song is slight but impactful at the same time.
7. Lose
The most emotional song among all the songs in Moonchild. i guess we can agree NIKI’s voice really suit well in this song, also the lyrics and the instrumental. it’s all stunning. and my favorite line from this song, i feel like she sounds on the verge of tears, +
everytime i listen to this part, i always feel tremble. also, the raw and authentic feeling is immaculate. moreover if you listen to it at night and your room is dark.
8. Plot Twist
The track that i claimed before, it is very bright, lighthearted, and sounds very cheerful. you can noticed how it sounds different from her previous love songs, this one is so pure. i feel like she’s feeling grateful for the presence of “this person” in her life.
ngl.... @nikizefanya you didn’t know how much i really wanna relate to Plot Twist, but I CANT. because i havent found it yet </3 pain.
9. If There’s Nothing Left....
The most metaphorical one, and i do think it’s not a song, it’s a poetry. it was very hard to pick my fav line from this song because the whole lyrics are exquisite. I interpreted this song in romantic way because i love “love songs” hehe
I saw someone commented ‘no man is an island, there’s shipwrecks and sirens’ means everyone relief on others and no one is self-sufficient, and i think i.... mesmerized.
10. Drive On
The perfect track to end the album, it sounds heartwarming and her voice is so soothing. i really love how she uses left-right line, remind us to keep aware and back on the right path. yeah, this song really suits when you are on the way home after a long trip.
“children of the moon” can be refers to Moonchildren, us. this line really makes me appreciate drive on more and honestly it grows on me!
3 words to describe Moonchild, versatile, unpredictable, and.... metaphorical. i’m so proud of niki, no words could describe how i really admire her and this album was really worth to wait. i could feel that the process of making this album is a “catharsis” for her. <3
though i said it before that i’m more into Zephyr and honestly i can really only find myself loving a handful of songs from Moonchild, this album shows that Niki improved her musical skill and she’s pushing the boundaries, it’s a really amazing concept album. maybe it would be +
hard for us to interpret each songs from the album because it’s really metaphorical, and that makes the album is interesting. just like NIKI herself said, you will have, at least one, your fav song from Moonchild. (and i think most people fav is Lose....)
