Hey everyone! I’ve been thinking very hard about this for quite some time, and I’ve decided to make this twitter thread going over some of the project management lessons i’ve had to learn the hard way over the course of running my fangan. #fanganronpa #projectmanagement
Just as a little disclaimer, this thread isn’t meant to be a black and white list of rules on how to run a fangan. It’s only meant to be a guide. Please remember to take everything I say with a grain of salt!
Alright, with that said and done, lets kick this off!

1: Ask yourself, why do you have a project in the first place?

Fangans are for fun, or they can be a serious attempt to practice communication skills. Whatever the reason, it’s important to make sure you know WHY.
Fangans are just that. Fan-dangans. If you’ve started a project with the intention of getting lots of clout or “doing it better” than someone else, you need to reevaluate, because those are toxic mindsets to have.
2: make sure you are able to handle the stress of such a massive project!

Danganronpa is a visual novel series, part of a genre that is NOTORIOUSLY massive in terms of word count! Not just that, but with hundreds of sprites, CGs, osts, etc
Things can get pretty stressful! It’s important to make sure you’re able to work quickly or efficiently, and to know when the time is right to take a break. For example: if you find it hard to WANT to work, you should consider taking a rest, otherwise you’ll be burnt out.
3: Team management skills are CRITICAL

Everyone works with their teams differently, so it’s hard to give good advice on this that will help lots of people. However, for me personally, i find it useful to keep a small-ish team.
I like to only bring on people who can do things that i cant, so in my case, i’m the only writer and the head artist, whereas, several incredibly talented individuals were kind enough to lend their skills in programming, composing, video editing voice acting etc, to the series.
4: get a beta reader

No im serious! Beta readers are honestly SO important If you don’t know what to ask them, there so many results for the google search “beta reader questionnaire” including an article that helped me decide the questions used by my projects beta readers.
Alright! I sincerely hope some of these were helpful. This applies to ALL projects, not just fangans. Now that this is all said and done, I’d like to open up the conversation and ask you all what you feel are some tips i didn’t cover!
