Last weekend I finished Gold 1.
This week I finished Elite 1 for the first time in my FIFA career!

Quick Disclaimer:
Yes, obviously my team helped.
But I had the same team last week apart from Ederson so I’m just sharing what worked for me

Driven Passes:
This weekend, I made it a point to increase my speed of play and speed of thought.
One of the key ways I did that was by hitting driven passes into my strikers and wingers when transitioning out of the back.

Driven Passes #2:
This year, CMs/CDMs don’t aggressively track back unless you manually control them.
With this in mind, the driven pass is a great tool to quickly beat the midfield line and start running at the back line before your opponent can track back with his mids.

Tracking Back:
The inverse of the tip above is to track back with your midfielders.
In transition, unless there is immediate danger leave your backline be & track back with midfielders to ensure you’ll have extra bodies back. This is important when defending skilled attackers.

Team Press:
Team press is a highly effective way to win the ball back if you’re chasing a game late. Combined with pacy super subs, and you shouldn’t ever count yourself out of a game if you can keep the score line close.

Team Press #2:
Team press can also be used to surprise a possession oriented opponent as they are building out of the back. Even if you’re up in the game, it can be very effective.
If an opponent does this to you, a max power lofted through ball is a good pressure release.

Conservative Interceptions:
I run Gorilla’s 442 custom tactics (link below) with two changes.
1.) I have my CMs & wingbacks on conservative interceptions. It might be placebo, but I find this makes them less likely to press up and leave space in behind.

Keeper Instructions:
I also have my keeper on Sweeper Keeper and Come for Crosses.
Sweeper Keeper is helpful for snuffing out the odd counter attack.
Come for Crosses is great for defending corners and has bailed me out a couple of times against whipped crosses.
