#MonkieKid someone prolly already said this before but while rewatching episode 9, I thought about the way Macaque talked about training + thought of the things people have been saying about him in JttW. âYour first strike should be your last strikeâ (1/14)
and âyou donât use a weapon, you are the weaponâ stuck out to me the most. I havenât read much into JttW (only 130+ pages in so far lmao) but with what iâve learned so far about him in JttW is that apparently: 1. His true form has six ears that allows him to hear a lot (2/14)
from afar - including the past and future - making him omniscient. He is one of the four magical monkeys along with Sun Wukong, which explains why heâs powerful + almost equal to Sun Wukong in fights. (Sun Wukong is the Intelligent Stone Monkey btw) (3/14)
2. He impersonated Sun Wukong in order to get Buddhaâs scriptures for himself, I have no idea why bc i haven't caught up with the novel but the scriptures are known to be powerful enough to persuade the evil + sinful to be righteous + good. (4/14)
3. He also died by getting (tw // graphic imagery + violence)

impaled in one eye through the brain by Wukong, who did this out of anger at him for impersonating him + hurting Sanzang/Tripitaka. (5/14)

I thought these explained the âyour first strike should be your last strikeâ bc he quite literally almost died + he's adapting to another potential near death experience. Kill them first before they kill you. Additionally, you can also say this might also be linked to his (6/14)
possible loner backstory since from what iâve heard, he doesnât really have much of a backstory in JttW nor any positive connections with other people). Why do I think Macaque didnât really die back then? I think due to his omniscience + (7/14)
his ability to make clones that he was able to do a switch + replace before Wukong âkilledâ him. This might explain why one of the shadow clones in episode 9 has a scar over his right eye. why that clone still has the scar despite being expendable, I donât know. (8/14)
Iâve also seen some people speculate that he might not be able to see well in his right eye + that he actually did survive from his fight with Wukong. Now from how Macaque talks about Wukong, he respects + recognizes his strength; âCome on! Show me the real Sun Wukong, (9/14)
he would have levelled this whole mountain range to stop me!â + âYou are such a gemâ. He even seems to view MK as âunworthyâ of Wukongâs power; âYouâre just some kid with a heavy stickâ. With how he continues to impersonate Wukongâs appearance, talks about him + (10/14)
how he tried to take his power in ep 9, one could say he wants to be like him. Have power + respect/fear from others. Or actually replace him considering he intended to kill Wukong. Despite this, he seems irritated when people point out his copycat behavior (11/14)
notice the eye twitch after Wukong says âare you ever going to get sick of living in my shadow?â when he joins the fight. This could also just be him hating/not liking Wukong + irritation at him interfering with his plans too but imma speculate (12/14)
he just doesn't like his true self which could explain why after all these years he's still copying Wukong's appearance to this day. Either way, this is all speculation based on my + other people's observations i've seen on here + on tumblr! :D (13/14)
plus the dude showed up in like only one episode so kinda hard to give concrete evidence so far
still dunno why he wanted the scriptures + i'm only guessing he wants to replace Wukong bc he's a lonely boi + sees respect, power + fear as the best things to have in life (14/14)
