So these are the things that Democrats could have done to challenge the nom and did not:
- NOT pass a continuing resolution until GOP agreed to hold over
- NOT participate in the “wonderful” hearings
- do an old fashioned filibuster until Capitol police pull you off the floor
1/
- form a human chain to prevent Senators from entering the chamber
- pass a CR that defunds SCOTUS
- pass a CR that requires COVID testing before all Congressional hearings
- pass a CR that defunds all Presidential travel
- pass any CR that inflict pain on Republicans
2/
- participate in protests outside the Capitol with people that will be individually affected by ACA, Roe overruled, gay marriage reversed
- have consistent messaging and not keeping talking about all sorts of other stuff while these hearings are taking place

I mean I’m not a political strategist. But Dems keep blowing this. How can you convince folks to expand the Court if this nom comes and goes with a hug from DiFi? I mean, you have to *show* how important this is!

Dems failed to go to the mat for Garland. Most thought Clinton would appoint someone younger and more liberal. And what about DACA? I thought the Dems were shutting down the gov to get this extremely popular policy passed. Nope. And they wonder about lack of Latino enthusiasm.

Dems psyched themselves out about not being too harsh. But it’s the nomination, not the nominee. 8 days before the election! Dems can’t always be the ones being the good sports. Have to play hardball if the stakes really are high. Otherwise independents tune out.
