Hockey is a predominantly white sport. That& #39;s not controversial. Query what your objective is in saying to people of colour tweeting about not wanting to be in hockey that it isn& #39;t a hockey culture problem. https://twitter.com/vanessajang/status/1320795704839696384">https://twitter.com/vanessaja...

What people seem to be missing is that we don& #39;t love hockey any less than you. The difference is that we love hockey in spite of being made to feel like we are not welcome or belong; I would suggest it takes a greater love of hockey to even try to participate.
So when you come in and say to people that this is not a hockey culture issue, that this is not *your* experience, that this will make them a bad parent, that it is incumbent on THEM as a marginalized person to push change, you are invalidating their experiences.
Just stop.
Just stop.
Anyways, anyone who comes for @vanessajang is gonna get a rude awakening.

One last thought: if your personal experience with hockey has been how it can be positive and inclusive, shouldn& #39;t your reaction to these stories be to think about how to make that the norm and how to eliminate the toxic elements that persist, instead of denying they exist?
