Today I found our ward domestic in tears in a store room, why? She had cleaned 14 Covid-19 rooms (and when I say cleaned I mean full and entire environmental cleans of every square inch of the room) and she dreaded having to do this every day again and again. 1/4
When people are throwing plaudits at nurses and doctors for being the frontline, they often don& #39;t realise that our domestic staff are the very front of the frontline, disinfecting every room every day to keep the place infection free. 2/4
I& #39;ve been a nurse for a very long time, I could not do my job without the domestic staff. They& #39;re our infection control experts and more importantly, the patients tell them more than they tell us. Wards don& #39;t just need doctors and nurses, they need domestic staff. 3/4
So spare a thought for our hard working NHS domestic staff, staff that take pride in keeping wards clean, safe and infection free. They& #39;re more important now than ever. Here& #39;s to them, heroes each and every one. 4/4
