Again, you may not arrive at the same interpretative conclusions that he does, but there should be no mistaking "where he's getting this stuff." It appears that he is attempting to faithfully personalize biblical wisdom about the tongue, about personal wickedness, etc.

In any event, one thing I notice in more than a few responses to Piper is that contrast. They do not seem as evidently derived from *texts.* I haven't read them all of course. But the ones I've read don't seem to be as explicitly connected to biblical arguments but more pragmatic
