GW7 - Mitrovic xG Analysis

I can't imagine there'll be much talk about Mitrovic this week, but it could be worth delving into the data to see if we should write him off completely or not...

Mitrovic is shedding owners rapidly after a succession of blanks since GW2 (2 G 1A vs Leeds). Over those 4 weeks he sits 3rd for goal attempts (behind Kane and Bamford) and joint top with Bamford for Shots in the Box...
...However, he only ranks 31st for Shots on Target and his non-penalty xG over that period is just 1.44, with his shot accuracy at a lowly 15.8%. The stats suggest that he's being provided with opportunities to shoot, but a real lack of confidence and accuracy could be...
...hindering his points potential. Three of the four teams that Fulham encountered in the last 4 rank in the top half of the table for xGC, (Villa - 1st (A), Wolves - 5th (H) and Sheffield Utd - 10th (H)), which may go some way to explaining some low scoring results. Next up is..
West Brom however, who are rock bottom of the xGC table with 5.70 and 8 goals conceded away from home. Given the fact that he is on penalty duty also, if any game represents a chance to rediscover his goalscoring touch, it could be this one. Someone that could help with this is..
...Lookman, who was introduced to the team in the last two GWs and already grabbed a goal away at Sheffield United. In those two weeks he has provided a welcome spark from the wing, registering one less goal attempt than Mitrovic (9) but one more Shot on Target (3).
SUMMARY

Mitrovic is not shying away from shooting however his shot accuracy has left a lot to be desired. He should continue to get chances, particularly following Lookman's recent inclusion, and has penalties in his locker. A game against West Brom represents a good chance...
...for points under normal circumstances, however given Mitrovics struggles this isn't as clear cut. Owners may want to hold for this fixture at least, but further investment for a tricky run beyond that looks unlikely.
