I have found an account of training in All Japan around 1984\\1985. I'm not sure who wrote it, but's interesting and I will share some snippets here.
This person came on a visit before joining the dojo, and so Misawa used to hide his face from him when he wasn't wearing the mask (I think he wore it to practice when outsiders came)
Kawada was practising at one corner of the dojo, and whoever this person was at another. Somehow, his foot collided with Kawada's face, and Kawada lost his temper and punched him.
Whoever this was was about the same age as Ogawa at the time (about eighteen or nineteen). He said they came to sympathise with each other, and Ogawa became a good friend
Sparring with the seniors was as you can imagine (lots of screaming from the trainees), and the room stunk of sweat and athletic spray. Ogawa got it badly from them, but even at 18 years old he was known as a "technician".
However, despite Kawada's temper. He was a demon inside the ring, but out of it he was different, he was a good senior and he took care of the trainees in various ways. He was a creative cook, and (despite everything) was close to Misawa.
Age is not a factor in being a senior. You enter the dojo first, and you are senior to whoever enters after you, regardless of age. The trainees were not allowed to sleep until their seniors did, and they liked to play Mahjong in the evenings.
"I felt that Baba was the don of the professional wrestling world and is the father of All Japan pro wrestling."
He also recounted a memory of The Road Warriors. They were on a ferry when Kikuchi called him over as he wanted to demonstrate a technique. This technique?
Chicken Wing Face Lock. Which Hawk decided to practice on deck on him.
Stan Hansen met one of the trainees who was half American and half Japanese. As he looked more American, Hansen started speaking to him in English. It turned out that the boy only spoke Japanese and had no idea what Hansen was saying. Hansen turned bright red, and walked off.
Things got wild when Hansen and his fellow Texan's, the Funk brothers got together. Even backstage the waiting room went wild over their matches. The Funks were notoriously bad time keepers, and were not the tidiest of people, which once led to a huge conflict with Hansen.
Davey Boy Smith and Dynamite Kid were also a pair of troublemakers; they once graffitied Yoshinari Ogawa's back and face when he went into their dressing room. But they had a kind side, often helping the trainees with their weight training.
Terry Gordy was in the shower once at Korakuen Hall when an earthquake struck. He ran out of the shower, down flights of stairs, and had to let's say, borrow a bath towel as he was in the nip.
Apparently the All Japan dojo (I think there was two at a time) was an old house that Tsuruta had bought. There was a roach problem first of all, and the seniors fled the kitchen when they saw them on the ceiling. There was also a problem with mice too.
Staying in hotels had their funny moments. They checked into and found there were no other guests, the rooms were frosted glass walled, even the bathroom had frosted glass walls, and there were "certain objects" in the beds.
They had been mistakenly booked into a love hotel.
