This is silly.

Part of the reason why the NDP won a massive mandate during COVID is because the pandemic has made us all realize that NDP policies like investing in healthcare and childcare and strengthening our public services have never been more needed.

It’s common sense. https://twitter.com/robshaw_bc/status/1320803929756631040">https://twitter.com/robshaw_b...
The electorate decisively repudiated the BC Liberals’ free market approach to a pandemic recovery.

Look at how Wilkinson’s signature policy promise-a PST cut that would blow a massive whole in the budget-fell flat.
People were really, really afraid of BC Liberal austerity based on their own memories of the Clark and Campbell years and the unfolding catastrophes playing out in Alberta, Ontario and south of the border.
They also ran on a mild but quite effective left populist message that charged (correctly) that the BC Liberals would work for people at the top whereas the NDP would work for everyone and make the wealthy pay their fair share.

This was a major campaign theme.

It resonated.
The "free enterprise coalition" threw a series of temper tantrums about this throughout the campaign, but it had absolutely no traction beyond their traditional constituencies because the median BC voter realizes that wealth inequality has reached crisis levels.
