It’s remarkable that college basketball begins in 30 days & it’s still a mess. I had so much confidence 2 months ago, but somewhere along the way the bubble idea lost steam, desires 2 play non con & MTE superseded common sense & playing conf only or proximity based schedules...
I don’t know a dang thing about non conf contracts and the budgets of all this. I just feel like I can look at this from a “what gives college basketball the best chance to get games played safely” standpoint. Which to me should have been the starting point for all plans...
And IMO, all roads lead back to a bubble. It may not be ideal. It may be a logistical headache. But the question simply becomes: Do you want to make sure you get games in safely? Whether you like it or not...the answer is a bubble. (or at the very least conference only)...
My idea 2 months ago: Do Conference only bubble during the window of no classes from Mid Nov-Mid Jan. Get in as many games as possible during that time. Then reassess after that. Maybe at that point you play 1 non conf game a week until March. Then bubble the ncaa tournament...
Conf games are the most important. And it’s easier to do things together as a conference. Similar budgets, TV contracts, testing protocols, etc. Decision makers 4 some reason were confident we could just play the season in a “regular” or “normal” fashion? Never made sense to me.
And if the guidelines are shutting down team activities for 2 weeks after a positive test. Good luck getting games in.

Season starts in 1 month. It’s a tall task. I get it. But decision makers better get things figured quick. Time was on your side. And it’s slowly running out.
