1/7 #YEG A THREAD: Things I have #learned this month. I've gone out of my way to be a more #present #HUSBAND. I think people see who I am as a #father. I don't feel the same can be said for myself as a husband. I had to look at myself in the mirror & really needed to step it up a
2/7 level. I used to come home from #work and be so #mentally #drained that I didn't think that my #wife felt the same coming home from her mentally taxing #job. I would #dismiss her #feelings unintentionally because I was so consumed in mine. I would at times come home sit on
3/7 the couch and just be with the #kids. I would also be attached to my #cellphone. So how present of a father would I be during those times? Probably not so much. Don't get me wrong I would #cook for the #family and do #laundry here and there and do #minimal things. I would
4/7 ensure #lunches would be made and #schoolwork was done but again #minimally.
Now... I come home, and am a present #partner. I don't sit my ass down until my wife sits her ass down. It wasn't easy breaking my horrible #habits but my wife matters to me, my family matters to me
5/7 and I need to be a better example for my #boys about #roles in the #house. I thought I was doing well but truthfully it was based on a very #skewed #perception.
I find #life is #easier and #funner when both partners are busting their asses after work so that both can #relax
6/7 quicker. I got way too comfortable with poor habits. Sometimes you need a #kickInTheAss to realize your partner's #shoulders are not big enough to #carry the whole #team. CHECK ON YOUR PARTNER and talk about how they feel about the work that goes into #raising a family and
7/7 keeping a house clean. Hope you take something away from my #vulnerability & apply it to your relationships in the event things aren't going the way you wished they were.I used to blame it on my #MentalHealth but I think it was more of a crutch to lean. DO BETTER BE BETTER :)
