#IntersexAwarenessDay for over 20 years we (the intersex community) have come together to fight for our rights to bodily autonomy, destigmatization of our bodies, depathologization of normal human awareness, and the right to affirming gender care.
Hi! I'm hormonally intersex. Please don't ask about my junk. My reproductive system is a murder mystery and my last formal diagnosis was "endocrinal disorder - other - intersex" because insurance sucks.

I was diagnosed in my late 20s & didn't have childhood surgeries.
Intersex people are undercounted but are probably 2-3% of the pop taking into account undercounted people like me who have hormonal signs & find out when puberty goes ... awry.

I am one of several intersex people in my family.

I am a queer, transitioned, nonbinary intersex man.
Not all intersex people are queer or trans or both, but I extremely am.

Not every intersex person is disabled (in general or by being intersex) but I definitely am disabled.

Not all intersex people want to tell you that! I talk about it as part of activism-education.
I love my intersex body but not everyone does. Some people want to change theire and some people want to celebrate it.

Intersex people can be cis (identify with the gender assigned at birth) or not. We can have genders trans people don't & different relationships to gender.
Please do not use our existence as a theoretical gotcha to trap people who deny gender and sexual development or sex assignment vary and is largely ascientific. We are people, not philosophical thought problems or ways to shut down an argument.
Support intersex people when it's not October or Caster Semenya isn't in the news.

Our main demand is our bodies be left alone if nothing is hurting us, & you stand with us against child genital mutilation, coercive gender assignment, and violence against intersex adults.
That's it, really. We just want to have control over our bodies medically, for our genders to be respected, and for you to support the I as an ally, whether we are personally queer (via transition or orientation) or we are queer-adjacent but moving towards the same goals.
Cool the thread has typos. Too bad I'm not doing it twice~
