A word on the emotional release and therapy a #ttrpg game can provide if you remain open & honest with yourself: Last night I played #AliceisMissing for the first time, a text-based game where you play a group of teenagers searching for your friend who has disappeared. 1/4
Through the roleplay of the character Julia, I spoke to the character Charlie who had "moved away." I ended up in tears, thinking about my own loss of friends due to some moving away recently, or due to death. It shook me hard. 2/4
But through texting with "Charlie" & reconciling with him over why he left & what it meant to my own character, I felt a great sense of real emotional release. I'm still thinking about it this morning, & processing what that means for my personal life and my relationships... 3/4
& how an RPG was able to so deeply move me to reflect on my real life. Even if I can't talk to those who have passed on, hearing from a fictional character that they didn't mean to hurt me or want to leave meant... a lot.
So thanks, #RPGS. Again. For saving me.
And thanks to to @SpenserStarke for creating this wonderful piece of playable art.
The VOD of the stream is here on @Hunters_Ent's twitch: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/782050543
D'oh, the VOD is for subscribers only right now, but I'll post the youtube video when it goes live, probably sometime next week ❤️
