#14 This appears to be one of those examples based on how hard the DE crashes. I think the idea here is to assume play action. But Donald seems to swing outside a couple beats after the runner was committed inside.
#15 You can run right at Donald. Here's a bread and butter power run right at him. He gets pushed away from the point of attack by a combo block fairly effortlessly.
I have 40 of these by the way.
#16 Donald's style makes him highly susceptible to draw type plays.
#17 If I were an OC I'd run right at him if he's going to be doing this all day.
#18 This may even be by design, but it's not effective vs the run.
#19 Same deal. Penetration, but too deep to affect the play. Leaves a big gap open behind him.
#20 This tactic is especially bad vs short yardage situations. This is a 3rd and 1. RB has too much room to squeeze by 91 and 58.
#21 Not sure why the Rams would ask him to play NT. Not effective.
#22 Owns his own gap again, but creates a big problem. There's the big 99 jersey, jogging back toward the play.
#23 Good stop by the other side of the defense, but same thing over and over. Not effective vs the run.
#24 Not effective. I'd run this 20 times a game to Donald's side. Look how easy life is for the center #68. Doesn't need to combo on Donald and can go straight at the second level defender.
#25 same play but on video
I'll stop there because it's such a great example.
Those are all from 2019. Interestingly Donald's usage has changed this year, maybe due having a new DC. Whatever the reason his effectiveness vs the run has significantly improved and he's 18th out of 86 qualified IL in RSWR.
