Schools have been *amazing* trying to keep children safe. They have been charged with an impossible task - it is akin to asking them to prevent any virus to circulate around a class -like putting water in a sieve!
I hope the welcome support proposed by @HSELive is enough

We had 0 contacts for contact tracing. No playdates, no family visits, no friends, no gatherings.
I'm glad of that because we are fully aware of the serious implications of #COVID19 -we lost Uncle John *TO* covid this summer.

The HSE guidelines are confusing. My kid had **NO FEVER** & symptoms of a cold. The 38C threshold needs to be reviewed IMO @HSELive.
Luckily I kept my kid home.
The important message is to contact your doctor if your child has any symptoms, even low grade/no temp.

Although my kid's case may be categorised community transmission by @HSELive I respectfully disagree.
It is *school community transmission* & we need to name it @NormaFoleyTD
Not to do so is dangerous @CMOIreland
We need transparent data

Empirical evidence starting to emerge
We are at the tip of a very large iceberg.
We need data to know what is happening in Irish schools-we can't continue to stick our head in the sand & hope for the best!
Time for due diligence & empirical data.

All children in my kid's class should be offered a test but they won't be.
I have no doubt other children are C19+ & will be missed as @HSELive does not consider the class/teacher/SNA as close contacts. @DonnellyStephen have you been in classrooms- esp overcrowded ones?

The implications are serious-we can now create support bubbles with single householders which is *very welcome*
However my household extends to 3 classrooms(90 children)
Surely we should offer tests to everyone in C19+ classes to track & trace to keep everyone safe @HSELive?

The burden on principals is appalling.
the supports proposed by @HSELive really help principals with class contact tracing.
It is too much to ask on top of expecting them to keep schools safe.
Principals are already overburdened. @IPPN_Education @NAPD_IE @ForumTeaching

Everyone wants schools open- teachers/SNAs included!
They need *safe* environments-benefitting children too:
-smaller class size
-retaining teacher nos
-rapid testing/results for all in C19+ classrooms
-effective PPE etc.
@NormaFoleyTD1
& @DonnellyStephen follow through

Finally, let's stop stigmatising #COVID19 -otherwise people may not get tested for fear of shame or embarrassment.
Please follow up if your child has *any* symptoms.
You could break the chain of transmission and save a life.
There is no better reason
