Based off everything I’m seeing here and in conversation last with people, I’m going to suggest a few things that work for me during Covid.
1. Meditate. There’s guided ones on YouTube for free or apps like headspace. It’s tough at first but it gets easier. Stick with it. Cont
2. Exercise. You don’t need a gym to exercise. If you don’t exercise then start with a walk and some body weight squats and push ups. Work your way up to running and HIIT workouts (free on YouTube). Make this a part of your daily.
3. Food and drink. I think most of us have consumed more alcohol during the pandemic. It’s a depressant. Restrict how often you drink. It’s making things worse.
What you eat matters. Minimize the junk or fried foods. Incorporate more veggies. Your body needs this esp now
4. Journal Journal Journal.
Find 10 minutes and write what you’re feeling. Bottling in our emotions (looking at you men) especially right now when we have more time to dwell leads to snowball effects and will only make things worse. Let them out. See them on paper.
5. Critically think.

Your problems and struggles have solutions. When you see them written down it’ll be easier to analyze and find solutions or to let them go. Ask yourself if that problem really matters, if it’s irrelevant let it go otherwise deal with it before it snowballs
6. Try something new.
There’s free time to try new things. I just got into yoga and I want to take some comedy classes online. Find something to get excited about that you didn’t have time for pre pandemic.
7. Get more vitamin D. Some may need to consult with your doc but finding ways to increase vitamin d as we leave summer is important. Supplements and foods with vit D may be your friend and help with potential seasonal & Covid depression.
8. S.A.D Lamps can help in the winter time. This year they will be even more important. You can get them for like $30 on amazon and may be a game changer for you.
9. Reinvent yourself. I lost my entire income during Covid and I have had to get creative and look at new revenue streams and how to do what I was doing before differently. If you can do this, do it. It’s scary but exciting and instead of dwelling on the shitty part cont
Of losing your job or source of income, it could become an exciting challenge to get creative and find other things you can do. I realize this is a privileged thing to say and it isn’t for everyone to immediately do but even if you can’t do it now you can start thinking about it
10. Don’t be hard on yourself or those around you. Love and be loved. That starts with self love. Do these things above to start showing yourself love. In fact while journaling write down things you love about yourself. It’ll be a great start.
11. Self care day. For me I take one day a week and I limit my socials and tv time. I don’t do any work and I try to just chill. Extra meditation. Lots of light yoga. A nice long walk with the dog. No weights, no running and no work. Be gentle.
12. Reach out. If you need anything please feel free to reach out and chat. ❤️
