...Trump declares victory in those states. They bury vote counts in spurious legal challenges backed by SCOTUS, after two weeks state legislatures say "it's been long enough" and gavel through GOP electors, SCOTUS ratifies.
Please believe me when I say the state legislatures in these states are already actively laying the groundwork for this scenario, and I can only assume the SCOTUS justices who were literally GOP attorneys on Bush v. Gore are as well.
I wonder if awareness that this is now Trump's most plausible path to victory is why the Biden campaign is investing in winning "unnecessary" states like Georgia or Texas. It's actually not "unnecessary" if the "tipping point state" is one that the GOP can steal if they need to.

Do I suspect this *will* happen? No. I think Biden wins at least one of the election night states (probably North Carolina) and that makes it clear that he's far ahead and going to become President.

Do I suspect that this will happen if stealing PA, MI and WI is enough to swing the outcome of the election? Yes. Virtually certain. They did it in 2000 and they got away with it and the people who got away with it are even more powerful than they were then. All but certain.
If we manage to make it through this election with our country and democracy intact, it's absolutely crucial that we dismantle the time bomb.
