Are you a #blind or #VisuallyImpaired #Student with questions about the #technology you might need in higher education? I'm live now and happy to answer your questions.
This was just a quick stream. Quick thread with the main points:

Be flexible, if possible know how to use two, or even three or four screen readers.
Recognise the value of braille, and invest in a braille display. I prefer at least 32 cells. https://twitter.com/CatchTheseWords/status/1320742365863313408
Even if you prefer Office, try and know the basics of using Google products, such as Docs and Slides.
Invest in OCR software, something like Open Book, ABBYY FineReader or Voice Dream Scanner is a good shout.
Don't be scared to try new things. It's really hard to break a computer beyond repair, the worst you're likely to do is make a badly formatted presentation when you first try using PowerPoint. It's ok to do that, learning usually means you don't do something perfectly first time.
I also linked to several resources, starting with webinars and podcasts from @sightandsoundt to get you started: https://www.sightandsound.co.uk/media/
And here's a whole page of free resources for learning to use screen readers, operating systems, office and various braille displays. Not sure what I thought when I made that heading structure though! https://catchthesewords.com/free-online-training-for-blind-students/
