Have been asked a few times what adjustments I've made personally to the COVID life, as a doctor, and also with vulnerable family members. So here it is:

[caveat; I am not endorsing this for everyone, this is just what I do and have advised my friends and family to do) /thread
1. The general principle isn't "either/or" - the name of the game is risk mitigation.

The only way you could every eliminate risk of infection is to stay at home 100% of the day, and eat a stockpile of bunker foods. Obviously this isn't a good idea. So it's a spectrum. /2
2. On a general level we do little in terms of socialising - but we still do see friends and family.

Always outside, always socially distanced. Similarly if we go to a restaurant we always sit outside (bring a jumper/coat, find a heater).

Ventilated spaces safer ++ vs inside
3. I've been wearing a mask since February on public transport. We have reusable ones now, and they go in the wash when we come back.

(These are really comfortable, have a filtering piece, and profits go to NHS workers charity: http://chooseally.com )
4. To wash the shopping or not? We don't anymore to be honest. Surface spread is possible but in reality it doesn't seem as clinically important as we thought.
Also it's a total pain in the

"Click & collect" is amazing - get a slot, 5 mins at shop, and no need to go inside.
5. Wash your hands. It seems silly at this point to keep mentioning this, but we wash our hands a lot more than pre-pandemic.

Hand sanitiser at the park, soap wash at home. This is just general good advice.
