A Performance Audit related to Indian Army covering the period 2005-06 to 2007-08 was initiated in June 2008, the draft report was issued to Ministry of Defence in January 2009, Ministry reply had not been received by the CAG of India till April 2010!

So think about the dilemmas our national auditor face. Finalisation took more than 24 months from the period under review. Then for about four months, this final audit report couldn't enter public domain, as the govt tabled the report only on 3rd Aug 2010.

While I will continue to add to this thread, such details from defence audits in India, I do think that every year, there should be some ranking of union ministries, by investigating how did they respond to audit criticism and whether they did respond within reasonable time!!
