I had not realized how frustrated I would feel, reading news stories about how Americans face an "agonizing choice" as "the holidays" approach. (Just saw that in WaPo. Sigh.)
Speaking on behalf of all Jews who observed our big spring holiday from home, apart, on Zoom, and did the same for our big fall holidays just now, the choice is: stay apart and keep each other safe. That's it. That's the choice.
It sucks, but it's not agonizing. Agonizing would be watching my elderly father die in isolation because I unwittingly transmitted this virus. Or someone else's elderly father. Or anyone. The fact of asymptomatic spreaders means we don't know if we have this thing. Stay home.
