What are conservatives conserving? I really want to know.

Why do people accept their flawed premise that “liberal” is a bad word when it has the same root as liberty?

Same thing for progressive—root word progress—why is progress a bad thing?

I get that conservatives/republicans are associated with lower taxes. Who doesn’t want lower taxes? But isn’t that shallow as fuck?

Like, I don’t love paying a lot of taxes either but I do it and don’t have to vote for monsters and throw away my own credibility.

I like shooting. It’s fun. I think people have a right to bear arms. I just think it should come with some limits and boundaries. Is that really radical? Nowhere does that I say I want to abolish the 2A.

I think people who don’t like abortions shouldn’t get one. Period.

I think Billy Bob and Peggy Sue are entitled to their opinions. I just don’t think their opinion has the same weight as a scientist particularly if their opinion is not based in objective reality. Saying that isn’t rude or censorship.

Democrat or liberal doesn’t mean “FREE STUFF”.

It just doesn’t.

But I wonder why that bothers so many people—why does someone else’s gain offend them?

Because you might have to pay more taxes? That’s what being conservative is? Avoiding taxes?

Our whole society is held hostage to progress because progress has become a bad word and bad actors have manipulated people into thinking that a future that we have progressed from means they’ll be broke and poor and lose their status.
