Abdullah and his $25,000 contest.
Abdullah is 12 years old....

Ask your kids obliquely about Mr. Beast, see what they have to say.

Mr. Beast is a 22 years old YouTuber with 45.4 million subscribers, with some of his videos having 100 million views. 2/
Abdullah comes from a very religious family. In fact his parents made hijrah from US to a Muslim country to practice Islam better.

So it isn't a story about religiously indifferent parents (of Abdullah) 3/
However internet has exposed people irrespective of geographical location. (not meaning Hijrah is inconsequential)

Apparently Abdullah's parents where naïve and not very comfortable with English, so couldn't really keep a check (perhaps) 4/
Now coming to the story...
Mr. Beast had a competition called "Finger on the App", which required participants to:
1. Download an app at a certain time & put their finger on the app/screen
2. The last person to put his finger off would win $25,000 5/
Abdullah joined the competition and put his finger on the screen for the entire night.

7 hour + passed and Abdullah was still in the game. 6/
Apparently 8 million people joined the "challenge" at the beginning of the game (as per Abdullah), after ~ 7 hours the number reduced to ~ 2K.

Abdullah was one amongst those 2K... with their fingers still on the app. 7/
Imagine the number of hours,... what went in between them, especially what it meant for a Muslim child participating in such a competition. 8/
Eventually the time came for salaat, for Abdullah it was time for fajr.

Now Abdullah is deeply into the game, 7 hours plus...
Hours after hours, he watched as other contestants dropped out.

But now he had to make a decision ... 9/
7 hours 37 mins 8 sec Abdullah took his fingers off and walked away from the possibility of winning $25,000 and peer accolades to perform wudhu for Fajr. 10/
Abdullah's was obviously happy at what Abdullah chose. However she wanted to know how to react to her 12 years old son.
She wanted to ensure that Abdullah wouldn't feel let down at this apparent loss and wanted to comfort him
11/
The advise that she was given by @SaajidLipham was primarily about two things:
1. Offering Fajr

Now this hadith isn't just someone saying something. This is for real (pause and think) & hence no loss for choosing it over $25,000 & praise.. 12/
2. Leaving something for the sake of Allah 13/
Now these simple teachings go back to Tauheed.
It has to be internalized

That it all is from Allaah & everything is from him - happiness, containment. wealth, blessings...
Allaah is above all. 14/14
The above is taken from Khudbah of @SaajidLipham

May Allah bless brother Sajid !!!
