Back in June 2020, I took a call to not replace my aging MacBook Pro with the new 16'. Instead, I built my own PC.

It's a shame that laptop manufacturers prioritize thinness over performance.

But even more importantly, the repair-ability and replace-ability of laptops have gone out the window. Need to change your battery? That'll be 50-60% of what you paid originally.
There's also a certain level of future-proofing you get by building your own PC.

I've been feeling the same way about cloud and subscription services that don't let you own any movie/game you buy. But this validates it even more.
