Calling all book fans, please welcome #BooksToNourish, a charity auction to raise money for @FareShareUK, the UK’s longest running food redistribution charity. All you need to know about the first stage of Books to Nourish is contained within this thread…
For this part of #BooksToNourish, we’re on the hunt for auction lots. A number of you have already been in touch to offer up bundles of books, editorial manuscript reviews and signed books, which are all amazing, but the auction still needs more items for people to bid on.
#BooksToNourish is looking for book-related things, anything from a cookbook author offering a Zoom cooking lesson to an exclusive print of an illustration to an advice session with agents. The deadline to submit auction lots is 11.59pm on Sunday, November 1 (THIS Sunday). More information on auction items and the auction in general can be found on the #BooksToNourish website: https://bookstonourish.wordpress.com/
The auction will be open for bids from Monday, November 9 to Sunday, November 22. Bids will be placed via comments on each item’s page, with the highest bid at the time the auction closes winning. More details on how to bid will be on the #BooksToNourish website soon.
#BooksToNourish is inspired by the work of Marcus Rashford, and the generosity of people across the country who have stepped in to help children facing hardship where the government refused to do so.
#BooksToNourish, even before its official “launch”, has shown the generosity and and heart at the centre of publishing. I’m hoping, in the coming weeks, we’ll see lots of excellent things put forward for auction, and lots of bidding to raise money money for FareShare.
And talking of generosity - @KloKlo is an absolute queen for all of her help with getting this off the ground, and @Naomi_Bacon and The Tandem Collective are stars for coming on board to assist.
