It's such a shame that the growing literary scene in Pakistan is going unnoticed. We have @usmantm who is singlehandedly opening a new genre of writing and pushing for more publishing opportunities. We have @ArslanArsuArsi who has launched The Desi Collective, an anthology that
Actively encourages inclusivity and writing across all genres. We have @saraswatibysea whose essays have been a lighthouse for all those lost during this strange year. We have @AwaisKhanAuthor my dear saraiki whose work has been picked up by international publishers and
He conducts writing workshops. We have @SairaAnsari_ who works in publishing in the UAE and her written work is unlike anything else I've read, her research alone on Pakistani art warrants a book.
We have @gigglypundit whose body of work is an encyclopaedia of Pakistani culture and her upcoming first of its kind book about South Asian craft. We have @zahrahameed whose book of poetry about the desi female experience and body is every female's manifesto
We have that young girl whom @guldaar had tagged, author of Jinnistan. I have yet to read it but I do hear it's good. So much more out there, so many writers, new and old, producing work on their social media profiles.
We have @Zarrar2 who bravely ventured where no one else did. @SoniahKamal smashing it internationally whose love story broke barriers. @SaraNaveed who is the Pakistani Mills and Boon. @sarimbaig01 and his incredible work @laaleen who opened another genre
And then there are others who steadily promote writing in their own quiet, gentle ways @mariamtee and Tamreez with their reviews and Instagram platforms. @fbhutto who conducted writing workshops with Mariam.
So, so many more. Sidrah Sheikh and Arsh Rehman opening up the sci-fi genre. Minaal and Sabdezar who have humbled me with their work. And these are people I know of and yet there are a hundred more people out there, talented and creative.
@FaiqaMansab a silent force whose dedication to the craft of writing and her work in supporting Punjabi literature. Just awesome!
@theRealYLH who fights the good fight by documenting Jinnah and offering him to Pakistan as a reminder of what we are supposed to be as a nation. There is another gentleman whose contribution to my own book is invaluable and his literary work in Urdu, cruelly unnoticed.
I'm writing them as they come to me. This year has been mentally v difficult and my memory suffers now. If I havent added anyone please let me know. It is an honest mistake on my part.
