Before I get into this, this theory is based off of this one, so if you haven’t read it yet, I recommend you do so before reading this thread https://twitter.com/redchoerrypie/status/1319587749880647680
And again, this is all just for fun so take it with a grain of salt. You’re welcome to disagree with me, but please don’t be rude about it. I’m always interested in hearing other people’s takes on this as well so feel free to hmu :]
To start off with, if you watch the Why Not MV in 4K, it’s clear that the object falling from the sky is a plane, but this isn’t the first time we’ve seen this plane before. There’s clearly a significance behind it, but what could it possibly mean?
In the plane crash theory, OP talks about how Loona were just ordinary girls who were on that plane, but they died when it crashed. This event was the catalyst that caused the girls to be reincarnated into the Loonaverse
They were then separated by the Möbius strip into three different worlds: Earth, Middle Earth, and Eden, but keep in mind that these aren’t necessarily the worlds that some of them truly belong to
The girls no longer remember their past lives and the Loonaverse is all they know now, but there’s only one person that kept their memories intact: Haseul
If we take a look at Haseul’s solo MV, Let Me In, at the beginning she says, “Inside my heart, the place that’s deep and dark, you barged in”
There are two versions of the girls, one being the original version of themselves who were alive before the plane crash, and the second one being their Loonaverse reincarnations
Haseul could be referring to her reincarnated self in the line “you barged in.” This could possibly be interpreted as her reincarnated self almost taking over her when she entered the Loonaverse, but instead, she was still somehow able to keep her original self intact
The reason Haseul did not lose her original self could be because she somehow survived the crash, but was still transported to the Loonaverse with the rest of the girls
Maybe Haseul was the pilot that crashed the plane? Was it planned or was it an accident? Why were they on that plane in the first place? I’m not sure
In the next line she says, “One day it will fall asleep again, but please wake my world up.” In the first half, she could be referring to how her original self could disappear the longer she stays in the Loonaverse
In the second half she could be referring to her wanting to go back to their original world, but instead, she’s now stuck in the Loonaverse with the rest of the girls
Here she says, “Above the night sky, let me in.” Haseul could be referring to how they must go beyond the night sky to go back to their original world, maybe this has something to do with the moon playing an important role in the Loonaverse
It’s possible that the moon was the reason the girls were reincarnated after they died. The moon is the key to entering and leaving the Loonaverse which is stuck in a time loop, but in order to leave, certain conditions must be met
In So What they burned the moon to reset the timeline and in Why Not they danced on the moon to reset the timeline, but something’s still missing because they continue to stay stuck in the time loop
I‘ll elaborate on this in another theory, but Loona are finally starting to find their true roles (e.g. Choerry joining YYXY, Gowon joining 1/3, and Hyunjin belonging to OEC, but being unable to join them in Why Not)
What if in order for them to finally break free from the Loonaverse and go back to their original world, it’s not enough for them to come together on the moon
They must also find their true purpose/place in the Loonaverse and learn to love themselves before they can finally break free from the time loop once and for all and return to their world
Hence their message to all Loona’s around the world through [X X], [#], and [12:00]: Find oneself, break the boundaries that the world has made, and pursue your own free and distinctive identity, but what about Haseul?
Back to Let Me In, here she says, “We, so different us two, my heart gets colored with you, the girl is the boy’s girl.” Here she basically confirms that IS her, but her reincarnated self is slowly starting to take over her
In this line she says, “You there, knocking, when I wake up from this dream in the long night, will I be you? Or will you be me?” This could be interpreted as her fear of waking up as her reincarnation and losing her original self along with the memories of her past life forever
Haseul eventually decides to “kill” her reincarnation and continue living as her original self in the Loonaverse, but this causes another problem
If we take a look at the end of Chuu’s solo MV, Heart Attack, Haseul is seen shaking Chuu awake after she falls down to Earth from Eden, but she can’t seem to see Haseul
The longer Haseul continues to stay in the Loonaverse, the more she starts to lose herself until she eventually disappears altogether because her original self does not belong to this world
