i love tenn kujo. from the very beginning when he was introduced, tenn defies expectations; he can go from cute to scary in a matter of seconds. he also has strong ideals, and because of that, he sets the tone for the series right from the get go. and i love him for that.
i think tenn's proper introduction in episode four of the series really sets things going in motion. because of his speech emphasizing the importance of professionalism, we really get to see the standards set, creating future potential tension between IDOLiSH7 and TRIGGER.
tenn himself, as well as TRIGGER, is a stark contrast to how IDOLiSH7 operates. i think tenn just has a huge standout value because his speech puts the reality of the industry into perspective. he is a character that perfectly captures the concept of manufactured authenticity.
on stage, tenn has this cool persona, being the "modern day angel." yet offstage, he is completely different. i think in a way, his manufactured nature of trying to meet up to the expectations of the fans says a lot. not just about tenn, but the fan's expectations too.
later within the same episode, tenn nearly passes out. i think idolish7 provides such a humanizing approach to the industry by being realistic about what they choose to showcase. it's kind of like.. hey, maybe consider that the industry isn't all rainbow and sunshine?
these idols are put on a heavy pedestal due to the nature of the expectations they have to face and live up to. and i love that in episode 4, tenn just brings the industry to full focus with his ideals and his behavior. it's not just "haha idol show," after tenn's speech.
in several ways, tenn is an amazing character. due to the nature of idolish7's narrative, we get to see both the onstage and offstage fronts of each idol. tenn is just the first. and while we don't exactly get to see tenn's full character from the get go, i think his duality is
such an interesting concept. idolish7 really plays up tenn's duality and how he has different personas depending on who he's around. tenn's character isn't exactly explored in full depth within the first two seasons of idolish7, but he has such nice growth over the course of
future parts of the series. he too, is also able to progress as a character offstage. i also think that his potential as a character is also interesting because he could potentially shake up the whole plot. but that's enough tenn rambling for today. i just think he's neat đŸ„°
