Anyway if you don't know why this is a big deal for us (I mean, changing a country's constitution is a big deal on its own, but...)

This is the constitution written during Pinochet's dictatorship, which perpetuates the neoliberal economic model imposed to us to this day.

....Which basically means it was pro-privatization of fucking everything (WATER is privatized!!) and has stopped laws and reforms that ensure the development, future and common good of the people in favor of private companies and this model.

So yeah, this shit is a big deal.

Just look at this shit for example: this is a map of Santiago, the capital of Chile.

Blue are the areas that voted Yes to change the constitution, Red = against it.

...Red is where all the rich neighborhoods are LMAOO

I just want to give credits where it's due: ALL THIS was possible because in 2019 HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS said "ENOUGH!" to the government humiliating people and decided to not pay the subway anymore, doing *this* FOR DAYS, paralyzing the capital and making us all FINALLY wake up

Students decided to do this after the government increased the price of subway tickets for absolutely no reason. And as the man in the video says "this is for the dignity of this country"
The government then reacted w/ extreme violence and more people got involved and here we are
