In the Resurrection, what I most look forward to is not meeting the Bible heroes or the perfected bodies thing or whatever, not meeting lost loved ones, but meeting my ancestors from many generations ago and giving them vindication for their toils.
Meeting like Jeremiah or something would be neat and all but I really want to meet the original Lyman who settled Hartford and let him know that his pains and losses and risks were worthy and fruitful.
Or further back I want to meet whichever of my many-greats-grandmothers was a teen mom bearing my ancestor in a society with a 25 year life expectancy (its a certainty this is in your lineage somewhere) and just tell her that her courage against nihilism was worthy.
And selfishly I can’t wait to meet my descendants and hear their stories.

Obviously the meaning of family will be changed in the Resurrection but I think it is hard to imagine that the unique joy derived from family will be fully derogated to humanity generally.
Think I used derogated incorrectly there btw? I mean like I don’t agree with those who say that the love we feel for a rando in heaven will be so great that our family ties will seem trivial beside them. Jesus does not regard his relationship with Mary to be relatively trivial.
I think that the unique vocation we have as part of a lineage or kinship group will of course be changed, but being a fundamentally good thing and one of the ways that God explains Himself to us by analogy, I struggle to believe it’s just gonna be like “well, family is over”
“I chose to use like 99% family metaphors for my relationship with humanity and yet am gonna totally cancel the entire significance of family in the New Creation” — God, according time some weirdos apparently
Anyways I think what I’m saying is that this is the excitement motivating Abraham as well: the promise for a multitude of descendants was powerful to him and a hope worth extraordinary pains.
Anyways have babies they’re great y’all.
