it is time for the yearly YoriMoi rewatch
here we go
she
making excuses, worrying too much about what can happen, feeling scared of what can transpire in your journey, all feels really relatable in the sense that i worry too much about things too and that in turn also stops me from going forward with what i want to do
the first thing that is striking about this exchange is the difference in mentality between the two. they both want to do something but Shirase is motivated, driven and focused on reaching Antartica yet when Kimari tries to skip school, she can't go through with it
her!
also, considering that no one believes in Shirase and that she gets called names because of her desire to reach Antarctica, it is very clear on what type of person Shirase is. someone who doesn't care what the others think, she has her goal and she will reach it
it doesn't matter if people don't believe in her, because she believes in herself. there is also the fact that Kimari has a different reaction to all those people, why? because Kimari isn't like the other kids, she also wants to go on a journey, so when she sees someone-
-driven and motivated in reaching somewhere as amazing as Anarctica, she finds Shirase amazing
(gonna use a # so you can mute this thread) #AndrewYoriMoi at the beginning of this episode, we saw Kimari being scared of what could happen if she went on a journey, she went to the train station and didn't go through with what she had planned that day. but through-
#AndrewYoriMoi -meeting Shirase she found something to inspire her and pull her forward. that's why when the second time comes around, she does go through with it. don't be fooled that her anxieties are gone, that's not how humans work, this is only a small step-
#AndrewYoriMoi -for a long journey that she will undertake. that is the power of the wake up call
