here we go!

tonight through Thursday, an #unboundeq slow chat about algorithms & bias. join my Digital Ed classes & classes around the world: all welcome.

we'll watch @ruha9 @ProfessorWherry on the New Jim Code & try out Twitter as learners together :)
Q1: in what ways do YOU see technology & algorithms increasingly shaping YOUR life & what you see/like/dislike/do?

what directions are the algorithms pointing you in? what biases are they feeding or encouraging?

#unboundeq
A1b: i *do* see algorithms daily in advertising, when i get sold what i already bought lol

but also when algorithms gets me wrong: when they take my age, race & apparent gender & bet i identify at the intersection of those stereotypes.

ppl, i do not LIKE white wine. #unboundeq
lol then i head over to FB and a college friend has posted this, and all i can think is 'why didn't the algorithm show ME that amazing cat sweatshirt/dress thing?!?"

sigh.
