I get the message in these types of sentiments, but also I feel weird about shifting responsibility to poor people? Like, the rich *are* fighting their own battle (to simultaneously wed us to capitalism and strip us of humanity) and it’s working
Like, millionaires actually work really hard to convince everyone else that protecting their oppressor is the key to their freedom
There’s obviusly a lot of nuance here esp. with race/class and how your identities influence political thought when you’re born into a dystopia built on meritocracy and individualism and stripped of justice, but also like, poor people aren’t willing soldiers of the ruling class
That said, I have been thinking about this just in the context of reactions to marginal tax rates and n o t in the electoral context which it was originally tweeted please god do not take this thread as me defending tr*mp supports (the main critics of b*den’s tax proposals)
